Dr. Hawkins Published in National Magazine

Coatesville, PA – Rosaria Hawkins, Ph.D., President of Take Charge Consultants, teams up with two fellow leadership development experts to co-author a thought-provoking article about Leadership Coaching at the Front Line for Training Magazine.
According to Dr. Hawkins and her co-authors, Butterfield and Lee, it is estimated that businesses spend $1 billion to $2 billion a year on coaching. A whopping 73 percent of those funds is targeted at the senior and executive levels. In short, an enormous amount of money currently is being spent on top-tier leaders who have real world-experience, who have earned some stripes, who have been schooled in leadership, and who have had years of mentoring and/or coaching as a leader.
Where are coaching dollars best spent? Butterfield, Lee, and Hawkins suggest at the level of the front-line manager (and provide data to support that). This is the beginning point of the leadership pipeline. Coaching these crucial individuals provides them with support and sets them up for success. They directly touch the largest number of direct reports and, therefore, have the highest potential impact on employee engagement. If they are not focused on facilitating workflow (and busting barriers), gaining trust of employees, and evaluating work behaviors, no one else in the organization is.

“Years ago we turned our organizations upside down to tackle customer services challenges—to pay attention to where the actual customer-organization exchange occurred. It’s time we do the work again, this time to providing coaching resources and leadership attention to those who need it most,” said Dr. Hawkins in a recent interview.
